Joie de vivre
Acclaimed by audiences worldwide, Ballets Jazz Montréal is back in the spotlight with a fascinating new creation by Jo Strømgren, a major figure in the international performing arts.

A prolific choreographer, playwright and director, Strømgren is renowned for his boundless creative universe and his ability to blend humor, poetry and depth. His collaboration with the company's talented performers gave birth to Joie de vivre, a work that reveals the beauty of furtive moments and emotions buried beneath the routine of existence. In this show, a character at the end of his life revisits its key fragment, exploring through them the mysteries of memory and the unspoken aspects of his story. Inspired by the codes of cinema, the dramaturgy alternates between humor and gravity, sublimated by a striking choreographic verve. With eloquent, expressive dance, Strømgren invites audiences to reflect on the paradoxes of the human condition, while celebrating those fleeting moments of grace that give meaning to existence.
