Le Patin Libre
The company was founded in 2005 by former top-level figure skaters. They came together with the desire to transform their athleticism into a means of free expression. Far from stereotypes and glitter, Le Patin Libre's creations are real works of authorship that exploit the unheard-of scenic and choreographic possibilities of gliding.
Le Patin Libre is a Montreal-based contemporary skating company. It combines the athletic virtuosity of skating with the creativity of contemporary and urban dance.
Alexandre Hamel
Alexandre Hamel trained in figure skating. He competed on the international circuit, stood on the podium at Canadian championships and won a number of provincial championships. He skated professionally for Disney On Ice before founding Le Patin Libre in 2005. He wanted to use his passion for skating outside the constraints of On Ice show business. Since then, he has managed the company while remaining fully involved in performance and creation. Alexandre is also a documentary filmmaker, whose videos have won several awards and been shown at festivals around the world.
