Rhapsodie
Sylvain Émard Danse
For Sylvain Émard, dance is a ritual that brings people together. With this show-event, the choreographer stages a large-scale cast of 20 performers and propels dance into its liberating dimension.
Sylvain Émard excels in the art of getting crowds moving. For more than 10 years, the irresistible wave of the Grand Continental has taken him everywhere on the planet where he has led hordes of dancers. This rigorous, multifaceted choreographer is as adept at transfiguring dance into an exuberant art as he is at exploring the torments of the human soul. For him, dancing is a celebration. Under the gaze of the audience installed all around the stage, Rhapsodie amplifies the energy of the mass, the bodies moved by a visceral force. A sensitive and attentive observer of his contemporaries, Émard captures the drive of beings who do not watch themselves dance : their subversive abandonment of bodies on the dance floor is a human shock that hits hard.
